Michel Prazeres has accepted a two-year sanction from the USADA after failing a drug test for banned substances.
The agency announced Tuesday that the 38-year-old UFC welterweight tested positive for exogenous boldenone and its metabolite 5β-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one in two out-of-competition urine samples provided on March 9, 2019. Boldenone is classified as an anabolic agent and is prohibited year-round under the current UFC Anti-Doping Policy.
Prazeres (26-3) will be eligible to compete again on March 9, 2021. He last fought at UFC Prague in February 2019, where he lost a unanimous decision to Ismail Naurdiev. That result snapped an eight-fight winning streak for the Brazilian.
In 13 UFC appearances, Prazeres compiled a 10-3 record competing at welterweight and lightweight. He has also competed in three catchweight bouts after missing weight.
MMA Fighting reached out to Prazeres, who declined to comment on the matter.
