Michelle Waterson vs. Marina Rodriguez set for UFC Vegas 26 main event

UFC Vegas 26 has its headliner.

On Tuesday, officials announced that strawweights Michelle Waterson (18-8) and Marina Rodriguez (13-1-2) will move up a division for Saturday’s 125-pound main event at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. The bout was initially reported to be in the works following the postponement of the originally scheduled headliner between T.J. Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen and first reported to be official by Yahoo Sports.

Waterson is coming off of a split-decision win over Angela Hill in September, while Rodriguez most recently fought in January, picking up a second-round TKO victory over Amanda Ribas.

A welterweight bout between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Alex Morono is expected to serve as Saturday’s co-main event. Morono is stepping in on short notice as a replacement for Sanchez following Sanchez’s release from the UFC.
