Miesha Tate reacts to Aspen Ladd UFC Vegas 38 weight miss: ‘Everybody saw you cheat’

Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate is not mincing words when it comes to Aspen Ladd’s recent troubles on the scale.

Looking to return to the octagon for the first time since December 2019 after recovering from a torn ACL and MCL, Ladd stepped on the scale this past Friday ahead of her scheduled rebooking with Macy Chiasson at UFC Vegas 38. Ladd initially stepped on the scale — fully clothed — at 141.5 pounds, but after removing her clothing and stepping inside the cube, the final weight was 137 pounds, where Ladd was seen visibly shaking.

The fight was scratched shortly thereafter, which Ladd claims was Chiasson’s decision, as the former believes the struggles came from getting her period earlier in the week.

Ladd put out another statement via Twitter on Friday, which Tate didn’t buy at all in response the next day.

“It’s one thing to miss weight, it’s another thing to try and cheat the scale and use every excuse in the book to not weigh in properly,” Tate stated. “Everyone saw you cheat and still came in a [pound] over. I bet you were every bit of 139.”

Tate also fielded a question from a fan, which stays consistent with her belief Ladd was not acting honorably when she stepped out to the scale.

While Ladd’s future seems somewhat uncertain — mostly in terms of whether she’ll remain at 135 pounds or move up to featherweight — Tate is scheduled to headline the UFC’s Nov. 20 event against Ketlen Vieira, which will be the second fight back for “Cupcake” following her return from a nearly five-year retirement from the sport.

Ladd is currently 4-1 inside the octagon, which includes stoppage wins over Lina Lansberg, Tonya Evinger and Yana Kunitskaya.
