Movsar Evloev doesn’t think he needs wrestling to beat Alexander Volkanovski

Movsar Evloev has his sight fixed on Alexander Volkanovski’s featherweight title.

Evloev handed Lerone Murphy his lone pro loss via a majority decision in the main event at UFC London on Saturday. Currently unbeaten in 10 UFC outings, Evloev is now considered the frontrunner for the next title shot against Volkanovski.

“Took London, coming for Sydney,” Evloev wrote.

While Evloev is known for his elite grappling, the Russian also held his own on the feet against Murphy. Evloev sincerely believes that he won’t need wrestling to beat Volkanovski.

“I’ll listen to your interview, and one thing about me, I’ll never make excuses,” Evloev wrote. “I truly don’t believe I need wrestling to beat you. You’re a great champion, and I respect you, but it would be something special to take your throne. Big respect see you soon.”

Evloev’s fight against Murphy was a closely-contested technical affair, which had fans and pundits divided on the decision. Diego Lopes, who previously lost to Evloev, hinted that the fight was boring with yawning emojis.

Meanwhile, another fallen opponent of Evloev, Aljamain Sterling, disagreed with the scorecards.

A Message for the Critics

Reacting to the critics, Evloev reminded them that he has already left them behind in his wake.

“This is for all my haters,” Evloev wrote. “A couple of the opponents I beat had a lot to say about me, and they weren’t very nice. A couple of the others were respectful. Either way, love me or hate me, I’m going to be a champion, and you will not. I’m only focused on winners. Losers stay focused on winners, and you already lost.”
