Nassourdine Imavov wants to put on a show in front of his hometown fans.
Imavov (16-4) will headline UFC Fight Night 258, also known as UFC Paris against Caio Borralho (17-1) on Sept. 6 at Accor Arena.
Nassourdine believes he is well-rounded enough to hold his own against Borralho wherever the fight goes. However, Imavov says he took the fight in Paris with intention. Imavov wants to put on a spectacular performance in front of his home fans, who prefer striking.
While Imavov won’t hesitate to go to the ground, he will look to stand right back up and chin check Borralho on the feet. Imavov also considers the Brazilian a boring fighter who will likely look to win by decision. However, “The Sniper” vows to show that he can have an exciting showdown with what he perceives as a boring fighter.
“I consider myself a complete fighter,” Imavov told MMA Junkie. “So if it has to go to the ground, we will go to the ground and I’ll welcome him to the ground. If it stays stand-up, it’ll be good also. I would just demolish him… When I fight I want to bring real show to my fans. And I’m doing it in Paris on purpose. I want to bring a great fight for my fans here in France. For me it’s important to try to keep this fight up. Because that’s what people love. If he wants to go down, we will go down. But then we will stand up and I will show him…I know this guy just wants to [point fight] and win. Just having a weird fight, not interesting fight. That’s what he’s used to. But for me, I will make this fight spectacular. It’s important for me to show people that I can make a great fight with boring fighter.”
Imavov is riding a four-fight winning streak against elite opponents, topped off with a stoppage win over former two-time Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight ace Israel Adesanya. Meanwhile, Borralho is undefeated in seven Octagon outings, with his most notable wins coming against Abusupiyan Magomedov and Jared Cannonier.
