Nick Newell Inks Multi-Fight Contract with Bellator MMA

Nick Newell is officially a Bellator MMA athlete.

The promotion announced Newell’s deal on Wednesday with a congratulatory message on Twitter. Sherdog.com confirmed with a Bellator official that Newell’s contract is for multiple fights with the California-based organization.

Newell made his promotional debut on a one-fight deal at Bellator 225, where he submitted Corey Browning with an arm-triangle choke in the opening stanza on Aug. 24. A congenital amputee who is missing the lower half of his left arm, Newell previously campaigned for a contract in the UFC but lost a decision to Alex Munoz on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2018.

The 33-year-old Milford, Conn., native has competed organizations such as World Series of Fighting, CES MMA and Legacy Fighting Alliance while compiling a 16-2 career mark. Newell’s only other defeat came against current UFC lightweight contender and former WSOF titlist Justin Gaethje via second-round TKO in July 2014.
