The biggest beneficiary was Diego Lopes, who defeated Jean Silva via technical knockout in Saturday’s featherweight feature at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. Lopes was on the verge of finishing his fellow Brazilian in a dominant opening stanza, but Silva managed to keep his wits. Just when “Lord” appeared to be gaining momentum, Lopes turned the tables, dropping his adversary with a spinning back elbow and finishing the contest with follow-up punches at the 4:48 mark of Round 2.
As a result, Lopes pocketed a total of $100,000 in bonus money — $50,000 for “Performance of the Night” and another $50,000 for being one half of “Fight of the Night.” Silva also received a $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus for his part in the wild affair.

Meanwhile, Octagon rookie Santiago Luna garnered the card’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” by making short work of Quang Le in a featured bantamweight clash. After being dropped early, Luna rallied to knock out his opponent at the 2:48 mark of Round 1 in a memorable UFC debut.
