Nohelin Hernandez Looking to Land Multi-Fight Deal at Bellator 199

While many fighters are just getting in their first bouts of 2018, bantamweight up and comer Nohelin Hernandez is keeping up the kind of pace that saw him fight five fights in 2017 with two bouts already this year.

While starting off the year quickly can be good, for Hernandez it has been something of a mixed bag.

“I started off my year (with a fight in January) on the wrong foot,” Hernandez told MMAWeekly.com. “I took a fight for the LFA on two weeks’ notice. I’ve never said no to a fight; this time to a fault. I was able to make up for it in my next fight at Tachi Palace 34 (in March). I got back in the winning column, and am looking to stay that way.”

With five fights last year, and heading into his third fight already this year, Hernandez addressed the concern that he might burn himself out with such a high activity level.

“I absolutely do not believe I’ll get burnt out,” said Hernandez. “Since until recently I was taking fights back to back to back and was having a lot of success. I like staying active.”

One effect of being so busy is that Hernandez feels he’s been able to grow at a much more rapid pace than if he had spaced out his bouts like other fighters do.

“I think even as of going from my last fight coming into this one I’ve seen a lot of changes,” Hernandez said. “I like to think that every single fight that I have, I do something new. There are more tools I have every single fight. I keep evolving as a fighter and a person as well.”
