Oleksandr Usyk is now undisputed … by the narrowest of margins.
The Ukrainian star claimed the WBC title on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a stunning split decision win over the previously unbeaten Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs). With the victory, Usyk added Fury’s belt to his collection that already included the WBA, WBO, IBF, and The Ring titles.
Usyk is the first boxer to achieve undisputed status in the four-belt era.
It wasn’t easy, and though Usyk authored the most dramatic moment of the fight when he rocked Fury in Round 9, the scores were still razor-close.

Judges Manuel Oliver Palermo (115-113) and Mike Fitzgerald (114-113) had the fight for Usyk, while judge Craig Metcalfe had it 114-113 in favor of Fury.
It was the first loss of any kind for Fury, who was coming off of a close split decision win over former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a 10-round fight this past October.
Usyk improved to 22-0 with the win. Following the fight, Usyk was amenable to a rematch with Fury, which was already agreed via a clause in their bout contract.
