Olga Rubin Believes Bout With Sinead Kavanagh is a ‘Fight For The Fans’

Olga Rubin will return to action in her home country of Israel against Sinead Kavanagh at Bellator 234.

It is Rubin’s first fight since losing to Julia Budd in a featherweight title bout at Bellator 224 this past July. Rubin knows she has to rebound in a big way at Bellator 234, but she isn’t adding any pressure to herself.

“It’s always important. Can’t say I feel any more pressure than all my previous fights,” Rubin said to Sherdog.com. “I tweaked my program a little bit. Added more hard sparring sessions and more defense drills. Also gained more muscle. Felt small next to Budd during the fight.”

Rubin is excited for the stylistic matchup with Kavanagh and believes she has the advantage wherever it goes.

“I’ve been chasing this fight for ages, and I’m happy its finally happening. I thinks it’s a fight for the fans. Wherever the fight goes I’m ready,” she said.

Should Rubin get her hand raised, she suspects she will still be about two or three wins away from fighting for the title again. So, one fight that make sense for her after this is welcoming Cat Zingano to Bellator.

“I have been a huge fan of Zingano ever since I’ve started MMA, so that would be a dream fight. I also have two more names on that list I would like to take on first,” she said.

For now, Rubin is just focusing on her upcoming fight on home soil.

“Excited to fight in Israel again. Love performing for the Israeli crowd. The energy is just something else,” Rubin said.
