The ONE Championship Lightweight World Grand Prix is set to begin.
On Thursday, officials released the bracket and dates for the eight-man tournament, which will kick off Friday at ONE: Hero’s Ascent in Manila, Philippines.
In the opening quarterfinal bout, which will serve as the co-main event of Friday’s show, Filipino fighter Honorio Banario (14-7) takes on Hawaii’s Lowen Tynanes (9-0) for the right to face the winner of the Eddie Alvarez (29-6) vs. Timofey Nastyukhin (12-4) matchup in the next round.
Alvarez, a former UFC and Bellator champion, will make his ONE debut against Russia’s Nastyukhin at the March 31 show in Tokyo.
The other half of the semifinals will be determined at ONE: Call to Greatness on Feb. 22 in Singapore, where Singapore’s own Amir Khan (11-4) fights Canada’s Ariel Sexton (12-4), and Malaysia’s Ev Ting (16-5) fights Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev (6-1), who fights out of Turkey.
Locations and dates for the semifinal bouts are still to be determined.
