Jake Paul extended his unbeaten pro boxing streak to 4-0 with a split decision over Tyron Woodley, who stung him and took him the distance but was unable to mount enough offense to convince all of the judges he won on Sunday.
With scores of 77-75 and 78-74, Paul didn’t knock out Woodley or turn him into a meme. Instead, he huffed through eight rounds with a tentative opponent who awoke in the fourth round with a right hand that sent him bouncing off the ropes. The important thing in the end was that Paul showed up, throwing more strikes and landing more frequently over eight rounds in the cruiserweight fight in Cleveland.
Paul continues to show up faded MMA stars and sets up a potential match with Tommy Fury, whose reality TV career and famous brother should provide another tentpole event for pay-per-view promoters.
Here’s what fighters had to say about the Paul vs. Woodley fight card.
The weight makes a HUGE difference and TBF, Paul isn’t awful. He’s solid, bigger, and is using the range well and tying Woodley up when needed. Woodley should be teeing him up with that right hand, after utilizing the jab! #PaulWoodley

All he had to do was walk around and they’re gonna give him the nod. Woodley brought the fight.

Get the tattoo and then get it fixed by removing the “ i” and “Jake Paul” and then adding “ falling in and out of “

Maybe I’m crazy, but I just feel “MY” dignity is worth more than the payday for a rematch like this. Maybe it’s bc I’m not in that situation but it’s like will things really be different?
Woodley has all tools in the world, and has been on top with those skills. Different times.

That’s it. Jake Paul vs Francis Ngannou is the only answer.
— Kay Hansen (@KayHansenMMA) August 30, 2021
If Woodley pressured more he woulda beat the shit out of him.
— Kyle Crutchmer (@KyleCrutchmer) August 30, 2021
Woodley gonna get another bag but at what cost
— Billy Q (@BillyQMMA) August 30, 2021
Jake Paul showed he has toughness and won’t quit! Tyron wasn’t active enough, not a bad fight tho. It was activity! Paul was exhausted and when guys are that tired gotta show em the door. Whatever man. Dammit Tyron
— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) August 30, 2021
And fuck that tattoo Tyron! Don’t do it
— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) August 30, 2021

The #MmaVsBoxing spectacle overtaking the world right now. I would love to be apart of it. I’ve been preparing and we all know my chin has never been suspect while the only thing @JLeonLove has been taking to the chin lately is cheeseburgers. Next event for @Showtime ? #FRM
— Platinum Mike Perry (@PlatinumPerry) August 30, 2021
Yooo slide into the left hand like that. That is a slick Knock down right there.
— Chris Weidman (@chrisweidman) August 30, 2021
I like that the corner cared enough to stop that there
— Brian BOOM Kelleher (@brianboom135) August 30, 2021
Great stoppage by Pedro Diaz! Tremendous performance by Montana Love
— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) August 30, 2021
Baranchyk should really not be fighting. His fight with Zepeda should have been his last. It’s time !
— Andre S.O.G. Ward (@andreward) August 30, 2021
What am I watching. Who’s the pro boxer?
— Paul Felder (@felderpaul) August 30, 2021
Honest opinion of Tommy Fury. Wasn’t very good! Looks the part, but can tell he is still very raw. This performance makes his chances to fight Paul better. He isn’t very scary, maybe he will be but not as of now.
— Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) August 30, 2021
We’re really watching this shiii ♂️.
