Paulie Malignaggi doesn’t plan to fight again following his-five round battle against Artem Lobov. Regardless, he’ll be forced to sit on the sidelines for an extended period of time if he actually wants to continue.
On Monday, the Florida State Boxing Commission released the medical suspensions for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships 6 from this past weekend in Tampa, Florida, with several fighters receiving indefinite suspensions on the card.
Malignaggi was suspended indefinitely following his loss to Lobov, which means he would need medical clearance from a physician before being allowed to compete again.
Following the fight, Malignaggi, who had previously retired from boxing in 2017, said that he wasn’t planning to compete again after falling to Lobov in the BKFC 6 main event.
Chris Leben also received an indefinite suspension after he fell to Dakota Cochrane in another five-round war that saw the UFC veteran suffer several cuts across his face.
Leben was previously undefeated in bare-knuckle competitions before losing to Cochrane, who accepted the fight on short notice before pulling off the unanimous decision win.
Former UFC fighter Joe Riggs and The Ultimate Fighter veteran Julian Lane also received indefinite suspensions following their fights this past weekend. Riggs’ fight ended in a draw while Lane was actually victorious. Lane will still have to receive medical clearance before being allowed to compete again.
