The Professional Fighters League‘s return to Dubai includes two title fights, which are now official following the PFL Road to Dubai Champions Series 3 weigh-ins.
Headlining the latest PFL card is a vacant lightweight title fight between Bellator champion Usman Nurmagomedov and rival Paul Hughes. It’s a rematch as the two fighters put on a fight of the year contender earlier this year, with judges slightly favoring the Dagestani fighter. Meanwhile, the vacant light heavyweight championship will also be up for grabs when Corey Anderson takes on Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov. All four title fight participants successfully made weight, as did every fighter on the card.
Nurmagomedov (19-0) enters the rematch looking to dispel any doubts after his majority decision win in January. The 27-year-old also holds impressive wins over Alexandr Shabliy, Benson Henderson and Patricky Freire. The Dagestani fighter weighed 155 pounds on the dot for the vacant PFL lightweight title fight.
Hughes (14-2) rebounded from his close defeat by knocking out Bruno Miranda in just 42 seconds. It was a statement win for “Big News,” who believes he is the best lightweight in the promotion. The Irish fighter also has key victories over A.J. McKee, Bobby King and Fabiano Silva. The 28-year-old weighed 155 pounds exactly for the biggest fight of his career.
PFL Champions Series 3 will air live on ESPN Unlimited starting at 11:30 a.m. ET/8:30 a.m. PT.
