Headlining the eight-fight mixed martial arts event is the title fight between welterweight king Thad Jean and late-notice challenger Ernesto Rodriguez. Both men made weight for the fight, which came together after would-be challenger Shamil Musaev bowed out due to weight-cutting issues. All other fighters on the card also successfully made weight.
The undefeated Jean has a perfect 11-0 record as a pro. Just 28, “Silverback” already has seven wins inside the promotion. The American most recently beat Logan Storley by decision to claim the welterweight title. Jean officially weighed 169.2 pounds for his first title defense.
Looking to make the most out of his unexpected title shot is Rodriguez (11-1). Also 28, the Xtreme Couture product is challenging for the belt in just his second fight for the PFL. “Starboy” won a majority decision over Masayuki Kikuiri earlier this year. The Cuban fighter weighed 169.8 pounds for the biggest fight of his career.
The PFL DC card will air live on ESPN. The main card airs at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, while the prelims start at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on the ESPN app.
