PFL delays start of 2020 season due to coronavirus pandemic

PFL season 3 has been put on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The news was announced on Monday with a statement from PFL CEO Peter Murray as the promotion is reassessing the upcoming season due to the current climate facing the United States with the COVID-19 outbreak.

“The Professional Fighters League is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 global crisis closely and assessing its impact on the PFL 2020 season,” Murray said in the statement. “The health and safety of our fighters, fans, partners and league personnel remain our top priority.

“In light of this unprecedented pandemic, we are adjusting our plan for the rest of the year and look forward to starting our next season as soon as it is feasible. We are committed to continuing to evolve and grow the sport of MMA.”

While the PFL’s third season was being planned, no dates or locations had been announced, although it was expected that the promotion would return to action sometime in May.

Now it appears those plans have been put on hold as the PFL waits out the current coronavirus pandemic that continues to sweep the globe.
