PFL Season 2 finalist Daniel Pineda admitted fault for a positive drug test and has been suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, per a settlement agreement reached with the commission.
Pineda, 34, was also fined $12,500 plus court fees for an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio stemming from his the promotion’s semifinal event. He will remain suspended until he pays his fine in full or works out a payment plan with the commission. He is required to provide and pay for clean drug tests at 30, 15 and three days prior to his next fight in Nevada.
Additionally, Pineda’s wins over Movlid Khaybulaev and Jeremy Kennedy at the PFL 2019 Season 2 Playoffs will be overturned to no-contests.
The commission resolved Pineda’s case on Wednesday after a delay cost him a spot in the year-end tournament finals held on Dec. 31, where winners captured a $1 million prize package. The UFC and Bellator vet was a dark horse to unseat Season 1 winner Lance Palmer.
Pineda denied wrongdoing shortly after his positive test. He was initially flagged by the commission this past November.
