An exciting bantamweight showdown has been added to the UFC’s final pay-per-view event of 2021.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a matchup between Randy Costa and Tony Kelley will take place at UFC 269. The event takes place Dec. 11 at a location and venue yet to be announced.
Costa will look to get back in the win column after having his previous two-fight winning streak snapped by friendly rival Adrian Yanez at UFC Vegas 32. Prior to that, “The Zohan” picked up his first two victories inside the octagon with consecutive first-round finishes of Boston Salmon and Journey Newson.
Kelley hopes to build upon the momentum of his first UFC victory where he defeated Ali AlQaisi at UFC Fight Island 5 in October. Prior to that, “PrimeTime” dropped a unanimous decision to Kai Kamaka III in the Fight of the Night at UFC 252 in August 2020. The 34-year-old was scheduled to face Trevin Jones at UFC Vegas 32 but was forced to withdraw from the bout.
UFC 269 is targeted to feature a lightweight title fight in the main event between Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier. In addition, Amanda Nunes will put her bantamweight championship on the line against Julianna Pena.
