Raphael Assuncao vs. Kyler Phillips set for UFC event on July 24

A battle between top-15 bantamweights is set to take place in July.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Raphael Assuncao and Kyler Phillips will square off at the UFC’s event on July 24 in a location and venue yet to be announced.

Phillips initially announced the booking on his Instagram account.

Assuncao looks to get back on track after dropping his last three fights. The 38-year-old has suffered stoppage losses to Marlon Moraes and Cody Garbrandt, as well as being on the wrong side of a unanimous decision against Cory Sandhagen. Assuncao, who was forced to withdraw from a scheduled bout with Raoni Barcelos in February, has not won since earning a decision victory over Rob Font in July 2018.

Phillips entered the bantamweight rankings after a unanimous decision win over Song Yadong at UFC 259. “The Matrix” is now 3-0 in the UFC, which also includes a second-round TKO win over Cameron Else at UFC Fight Island 4.
