Carneiro suffered a unanimous decision loss against Beneil Dariush at UFC 317 last month. The Brazilian recently said he’s eyeing the oldest UFC lightweight for his next outing. The 36-year-old presumed that his last opponent was the oldest in the division. However, Carneiro’s co-host reminded him that 39-year-old Chandler is the oldest.

“Moicano” was instantly tempted by the matchup since he has trashed Chandler in the past for “desperately” waiting for a bout against Conor McGregor. And the Brazilian believes he can’t afford to lose to Chandler, given all his big talk. When Carneiro’s co-host proposed a “loser retires” matchup, the former title challenger immediately agreed.
Moicano Eyes Matchup Against Oldest UFC Lightweight
“The oldest guy in the division… Michael Chandler my brother. I think that fight makes a lot of sense,” Carneiro said on the “Show Me the Money” podcast. “There is no better time for that fight. I have been talking s—t for Chandler for so long. And if I lose to him, I will have to kill myself… 100% [loser retires]. Sign that contract.”
The loss against Dariush was Carneiro’s second in a row following a submission loss in a short-notice title fight against Islam Makhachev earlier this year. “Money Moicano” was riding an impressive four-fight winning streak before that.
Meanwhile, Chandler is 2-5 in the UFC, having beaten only Dan Hooker and Tony Ferguson. However, all of Chandler’s losses came against tough competition, the most recent one against Paddy Pimblett this past April.
