Roman Dolidze saw his three-fight UFC winning streak halted on Saturday, but his future with the Las Vegas-based promotion appears to be secure.

Dolidze suffered a fourth-round submission defeat to Anthony Hernandez in the UFC Vegas 109 main event. “The Caucasian” struggled against the pressure and pace of his opponent as he saw his middleweight title hopes extinguished in a lopsided loss.

Dolidze released a statement via social media on Sunday, revealing that he signed a new UFC contract ahead of the bout.

Dolidze Recently Signed New UFC Deal

“Hey there, my friends! Feeling good, just a little sore. I want to thank everyone who is there for me. Y’all not listening to nobody! I signed a new contract before this fight. Nothing can stop us it’s just a fight. There is strength in unity. See you soon in Georgia!” Dolidze wrote on Instagram.

“I thank everyone who cheered for me. The result is not the one we wanted, but it’s just fights. Keep moving on.”

Prior to facing Hernandez, Dolidze had earned successive victories over Anthony Smith, Kevin Holland and Marvin Vettori. The 37-year-old Xtreme Couture representative owns a 9-4 career UFC mark since beginning his Octagon tenure in 2020.

“…Fight business is like that. Sometimes doesn’t go to plan,” Dolidze wrote. “I want to say big thank you to my coaches, to [Xtreme Couture], to [UFC Performance Institute] family and everyone who has supported me. Thank God for everything! No step back! On to the next.”
