Salt Papi Criticizes Stoppage in Loss to Tony Ferguson at Misfits Boxing 22

Influencer Nathaniel Bustamante, aka Salt Papi, claims his boxing loss against Tony Ferguson was an early stoppage.

Papi and Ferguson co-headlined Misfits Boxing 22 on Saturday at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. Papi was on the ropes, absorbing a flurry from Ferguson, when the referee stopped the fight in the third round. Papi claims he was barely hurt and has his almost unscathed face as proof. The YouTuber turned boxer notes that he didn’t take more damage than in his fights against Slim Albaher and Amadeusz Ferrari. Papi believes the same referee would have stopped his fight against Ferrari in the first round.

Salt Papi: ‘Not Even a Scratch on My Face’

“I think I did well,” he told Fred Talks Fighting. “I think it was the ref. I felt like it was an early stoppage. I didn’t get hurt. Not even a scratch on my face. That’s not more beating than Ferrari and Slim and the others… [That referee] would have stopped me in the first round.”

Papi is 6-3 in influencer boxing, which includes two exhibition bouts. Meanwhile, Ferguson won the Misfits Boxing Pro middleweight title with his win over Papi. Ferguson had previously lost eight straight fights in the UFC before parting ways with the promotion.
