Ask and you shall receive, Sam Alvey.
“Smile’N Sam” will square off against Gian Villante in a light heavyweight bout at UFC Fight Night 130 in Utica, N.Y., on June 1. The promotion revealed the pairing to Newsday. After a first-round victory over Marcin Prachnio at UFC on Fox 28, Alvey called for a bout against Villante in his post-fight interview.
UFC Fight Night 128 takes place at Adirondack Bank Center and is headlined by a bantamweight clash between Jimmie Rivera and Marlon Moraes and airs on Fox Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.
Prior to his win over Prachnio, Alvey spent his entire UFC tenure at middleweight. The 31-year-old Waterford, Wisc., native elected to move up a division following a unanimous decision loss to Ramazan Emeev at UFC Fight Night 118.
Villante, meanwhile, halted a two-bout skid with a split-decision victory over Francimar Barroso in his most recent outing at UFC 220. The Strikeforce veteran is 6-6 in the UFC and 16-9 as a professional overall.
