Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight prospect “Sugar” Sean O’Malley has announced via social media that he will be making his return from injury on Oct. 6, potentially in the co-main even at UFC 229.
O’Malley, who rose to fame through the inaugural season of Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWTNCS), posted on social media this weekend a video with a caption that reads, “Co main event October 6th in Las Vegas. #sugarshow.”
Oct. 6 is the same day as UFC 229, although the UFC has not officially confirmed who will be featured on the card.
If the post is true then it would be the second time that “Suga” would be fighting in a co-main event inside the Octagon in just his third fight since joining the UFC.
O’Malley (10-0) has two wins under the UFC banner and could potentially be given a ranked opponent at UFC 229.
The 23 year-old last fought inside the Octagon against Andre Soukhamthath at UFC 222 in March and put on a striking clinic. O’Malley fractured his foot during the third round but had done enough earlier in the fight in the judges’ eyes to win by unanimous decision.
