That triumph is part of an impressive recent run for Topuria, who has scored successive knockout victories against Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Oliveira.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, O’Malley veered into the subject of all-time greats while discussing potential fights for the highly-anticipated UFC card at the White House. Not only does “Suga” believe Topuria has the juice to headline that event opposite Conor McGregor, but he also thinks the reigning lightweight champ has done enough to surpass the likes of Jon Jones in all-time great conversations.
O’Malley: You Can Never Count Conor Out
“Ilia vs. Cono, f—k it,” O’Malley said. “You want a big fight? Conor, I don’t think has a great streak right now as far as, like, his last five, but if you want a f—ing main event at the White House?” But they’re not American, but does that matter?
“…You can never count Conor out, but Ilia is pound-for-pound the greatest fighter to ever walk this earth. Greatest fighter, pound-for-pound, ever. Even over Jones. His last three fights: KOs Volkanovski, KOs Max Holloway, KOs Charles Oliveira<. He’s not beating these guys by decision. He’s not taking them down and holding them down, and these guys can’t get up. He’s knocking them out. It’s f—king sweet.”
Prior to moving to 155 pounds, Topuria won his first eight Octagon appearances at featherweight — capped off by a successful title defense against Holloway at UFC 308. Potential challengers at lightweight for Topuria include Paddy Pimblett, Arman Tsarukyan and Justin Gaethje, though no plans have been confirmed by the UFC. Topuria also recently took his shot at calling out Terence Crawford for a crossover boxing match.
