Sergio Pettis expected to face Ricky Bandejas in Bellator’s return on July 24

A bantamweight fight between Sergio Pettis and Ricky Bandejas is expected to be one of the featured bouts as Bellator looks to get back to business on July 24.

The matchup was confirmed to MMA Fighting by multiple sources following an initial report from Combate.

While Bellator has made no official announcements, the July 24 card is expected to take place at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. in a shared promotion alongside Showtime Boxing.

Pettis made his Bellator debut back in January after inking a multi-fight deal with the Viacom-owned promotion following a long stint competing in the UFC. The former flyweight contender made a big impact in his first appearance in Bellator with a submission finish against Alfred Khashakyan.

He will have a tough test in his second Bellator appearance as Bandejas enters the fight off two straight knockout wins over Frans Miambo and Ahmet Kayretli.

The biggest win to date for Bandejas came in 2018 when he dismantled highly touted Irish fighter James Gallagher by knockout in the first round.

Pettis vs. Bandejas is the first confirmed fight for the upcoming Bellator card on July 24 with more fights expected in the coming days.
