Sidney Outlaw: Fight vs. Roger Huerta at Bellator 234 ‘Just the Beginning for Me’

Sidney Outlaw is making his debut in the sport’s second largest MMA promotion in a big way, as he will face Roger Huerta in the Bellator 234 co-main event.

Outlaw claims that he asked for difficult fights when he signed with Bellator, and he is glad that Scott Coker and the promotion’s matchmakers granted his wish.

“I asked for the toughest fight and they gave me him. He is a legend and a very good opponent. Look, I don’t want to fight any bums and and Roger is not a bum,” Outlaw said to Sherdog.com. “I’m excited to share the cage with him. I have so much respect for the guy. But, I just have to go in there and do what I do and get the win.”

Outlaw believes he may finish Huerta but is also prepared to go the distance if necessary. Although Huerta is a well-known opponent, Outlaw isn’t concerned with how it will affect his standing in Bellator.

“The win does nothing at all. It is supposed to be there. Whatever happens, happens. I’m just going to go out there and what I do and the outcome should remain the same,” he said. “This is just the beginning for me. I want title fights on my record. That is the only thing that matters.”

Ultimately, Outlaw is just excited to fight in Bellator after the UFC did not sign him following a win on Dana White’s Contender Series.

“I’m happy for this moment, and I’m fighting for Bellator and they are doing big things now,” he said.
