Tai Tuivasa vs. Marcin Tybura set for UFC 298

A heavyweight clash has been added to UFC 298.

The UFC announced that a matchup between Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura has been added to the UFC pay-per-view on Feb. 17 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

After putting himself into title contention with an impressive five-fight win streak — all via knockout, including a memorable finish of Derrick Lewis at UFC 271 in February 2022 — Tuivasa now finds himself on a three-fight losing skid. The No. 8 ranked heavyweight in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings enters the bout on the heels of knockout losses to Sergei Pavlovich and Ciryl Gane, along with a submission loss to Alexander Volkov in his most recent outing at September’s UFC 292 event.

Tybura will also look to get back on track after his two-fight win streak was snapped by Tom Aspinall in the main event of UFC London in July. Currently tied at No. 10 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, Tybura is 7-2 over his past nine appearances, which includes stoppage wins over Greg Hardy and Walt Harris.

UFC 298 will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria.
