The 38-year-old multi-division boxing world champion announced his retirement in a social media post, which included a highlight video, on Tuesday.

“Walking away as a great with nothing else left to prove,” Crawford wrote in a post on X.
If the retirement holds up, Crawford walks away from boxing with a 42-0 career mark. The Nebraska native known as “Bud” held undisputed titles in three divisions: lightweight, welterweight and super welterweight. His last appearance was a memorable one, when he moved up to super middleweight to defeat Canelo Alvarez via unanimous decision at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas this past September.
Making Peace
“I gave this sport every breath I had,” Crawford said in the video. “Every scar. Every triumph. Every ounce of my heart. I’ve made peace with what’s next. Now it’s time.
“…I’m stepping away from competition not because I’m done fighting but because I’ve won a different kind of battle. The one where you walk away on your own terms. This isn’t goodbye. It’s just the end of one fight and the beginning of another.”
