In an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show on SiriusXM this Friday, UFC head Dana White—also heavily involved in the operation of TKO Boxing—announced that the organization would be offering post-fight bonuses for its upcoming boxing matches. The event on Saturday between Saul Alvarez and Terence Crawford will have 10 bouts across the prelims and main card, and nine of those ten matches will be eligible for bonus consideration.

At the Thursday press conference, Turki Al-Sheikh tried to get White to announce this news, but White passed by it to ask for the first question. White explained that he did not have a proper place to bring it up at the conference—one which featured a tense exchange between boxing media member Sean Zittel querying an evasive White on his thoughts on the modifications to the Ali Act—and wished to bring it up on this show instead.
“The opportunity wasn’t there during the press conference, so I’ll announce it right here,” White exclaimed. “So on the undercard fights—Canelo and Crawford are going to do just fine on Saturday…they’re going to be OK—but on the undercard fights, we’re going to have a ‘Performance of the Night’ and a ‘Fight of the Night.’ $100,000 each for the fighters on the undercard from Sheikh Turki.”
Possible Shape of Things to Come for Reformed Bonuses
As he stated, the headlining athletes would not be eligible for the extra bonuses, no matter the performances. The POTN may not necessarily be attributed to a knockout, as an impressive victory on the scorecards could elicit an extra check at night’s end. Additionally, fighters can seek the rare and elusive double bonus prize.
“So you can be involved in ‘Performance of the Night’ and the ‘Fight of the Night’ and take home $200,000 for these undercard fighters,” White remarked.
The UFC brass has stated recently that due to the new broadcasting deal with Paramount worth over $7 billion across seven years, the bonuses over there should increase a currently undetermined amount. The only specifics issued by TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro were that the company plans to “invest in the product” and “share as much as it makes sense.”
