Alex Schoenauer’s post-fighting career as a stuntman has resulted in gigs on big-ticket films such as “Transformers: The Last Knight” “End of Watch”, “Star Trek Beyond” and “Fast Five.” It has also reportedly led to him being shot during a recent audition.
According to TMZ Sports, “The Ultimate Fighter 1” cast member is suing JMP Productions after he was shot in the back with a semi-automatic assault rifle during a stunt audition in September 2018. In the suit, Schoenauer claims that he and a stuntwoman were required to burst through a door at Oak Tree Gun Club in Santa Clarita, Calif., while carrying the weapons. Schoenauer alleges that the guns were loaded with live ammunition, and he was hit in the upper back when the stuntwoman fired her gun.
The bullet reportedly exited through an area around Schoenauer’s upper arm or shoulder. The extent of the injury is unknown. As a result, Schoenauer is now suing JMP Productions, the stunt coordinator — who he claims requested for the guns to be loaded with live ammo — and the woman who shot him for unspecified damages.
JMP Productions specializes in action programming and works with CBS shows “Seal Team” and “S.W.A.T.”
Now 43, Schoenauer appeared on “TUF 1,” losing to Forrest Griffin by first-round TKO during an elimination fight. He made his lone UFC appearance at the “TUF 1” finale, falling to Mike Swick in a 20-second knockout defeat. The Xtreme Couture product would go on to compile a 15-10 career mark over the course of an MMA career that concluded in 2009. That tenure included a 10-bout stint in the now-defunct International Fight League.
