UFC 241 Bonuses: Paulo Costa, Yoel Romero Garner ‘Fight of the Night’ for Slugfest

Paulo Henrique Costa and Yoel Romero went toe-to-toe for three memorable rounds at UFC 241, padding their respective bank accounts in the process.

Costa and Romero received “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their featured middleweight bout at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday night. In a back-and-forth slugfest where the combatants combined to land 243 significant strikes, Costa emerged with a hard-fought unanimous decision triumph.

Elsewhere, Stipe Miocic captured a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check for his enthralling come-from-behind victory against Daniel Cormier in the evening’s headliner. Down on the scorecards heading into the fourth frame, Miocic ripped his foe’s body repeatedly before winning via TKO at the 4:09 mark of the period to regain the heavyweight belt he lost at UFC 226.

Finally, short-notice replacement Khama Worthy earned the card’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for his stoppage of former training partner Devonte Smith in a preliminary lightweight encounter. The biggest underdog on the card, Worthy dropped his foe with a counter left hook and finished the victory with follow-up punches on the mat at the 4:15 mark of Round 1.
