This is the UFC 296 live blog for Tony Ferguson vs. Paddy Pimblett, the main card lightweight fight on Saturday in Las Vegas.
A former interim lightweight champion, the last few years have been particularly hard on Ferguson who is currently riding a six-fight losing streak. With his back fully against the wall now, Ferguson is pulling out all the stops, training with David Goggins for this fight in the hopes of recapturing the magic that led him to a historic 13-fight winning streak one upon a time.
One of the biggest stars in the UFC from the moment he joined the promotion, Pimblett’s massive popularity thus far outstrips his in-cage ability. Though he’s 4-0 in the UFC, Pimblett has not faced the toughest schedule of opposition, and his most recent fight was a highly controversial decision win over Jared Gordon. Now having been away from the cage for a year due to injury, Pimblett hopes to have a big performance to remind the world who “The Baddy” is.
