UFC 317 Gets New Matchup Following Sedriques Dumas’ Exit

Sedriques Dumas won’t be fighting at UFC 317 as originally expected.

As a result, Christopher Ewert will step in on short notice to face Jackson McVey on Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. MMAjunkie.com was first to report the new middleweight booking. The reason for Dumas’ withdrawal is currently unknown. The Florida native has a lengthy criminal history, including an April arrest on multiple charges including felony robbery home invasion without a weapon, misdemeanor battery, possession of weapon by a convicted felon and felony drug possession.

Dumas, a 29-year-old Pensacola, Florida, native, last fought at UFC 314, where he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Michal Oleksiejczuk. Dumas is 3-3 in the Octagon since earning a UFC deal on the Contender Series in August 2022.

Chilean Prospect Set for Octagon Debut at UFC 317

Chile’s Ewert will enter his first Octagon foray with a 7-0 professional mark. He last appeared at Fury FC 100, where he took a unanimous verdict over Reese Watkins on Jan. 12. Ewert has finished five of his seven career triumphs inside of a round.

McVey is 6-0 during his MMA tenure, with four victories under the Legacy Fighting Alliance banner to his credit. He last competed at LFA 210 on June 13, when he scored a first-round stoppage of Mataeo Garner.
