UFC Champion Believes Jake Paul Would Be a Challenge

Jake Paul is being considered a serious fighter by at least one UFC champion.

Alex Pereira was recently asked about a potential boxing match against Jake Paul. Pereira says it would be a challenge for both of them. “Poatan” believes he spars well in boxing and also has the added experience of a pro boxing bout.

“I think it would be a challenge for both of us,” Pereira told TMZ Sports. “I do really well boxing sparring, I have one pro boxing fight. So I think when you do things that you enjoy doing, that you do well, that’s how build my boxing for myself.”

One Major Obstacle

Paul has teased a boxing matchup against Pereira on multiple occasions. “The Problem Child” even claimed that Pereira’s team is interested in the idea, but Dana White is the only hurdle in the way. White hasn’t allowed UFC fighters to compete in crossover boxing matches, with the exception of Conor McGregor against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.

Paul became known in the world of combat sports by taking on retired UFC fighters like Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren and Anderson Silva. Paul was scheduled to fight Gervonta Davis on a Netflix boxing card earlier this month. However, the fight fell through after Davis’ ex-girlfriend sued him for aggravated battery, among other charges. Paul is now set to face his biggest step up in competition in Anthony Joshua on Dec. 19 at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

Meanwhile, Pereira (13-3) reclaimed his light heavyweight title with a finish against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 last month. The Brazilian is now rallying for a heavyweight superfight against Jon Jones at the White House in June 2026.
