UFC Fight Night 123 Salaries: Marlon Moraes Tops Payroll with $146K Purse


Marlon Moraes only put in a little more than one minute’s work at UFC Fight Night 123, but he nonetheless walked away with the evening’s biggest disclosed purse.

The ex-World Series of Fighting bantamweight champion earned $146,000 for his 67-second knockout of Aljamain Sterling ($36,000) in a featured 135-pound contest at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., this past Saturday night. The California State Athletic Commission released salaries from the event on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Brian Ortega garnered $58,000 for his second-round submission of Cub Swanson ($76,000) in the UFC Fight Night 123 headliner. Swanson, who was on the last fight of his UFC contract, had a four-bout winning streak snapped in defeat.

Former women’s bantamweight title challenger Alexis Davis was the card’s other high earner, as she collected $64,000 for a split-decision triumph over Liz Carmouche ($30,000) at flyweight.

Note: The disclosed purses reported by state athletic commissions do not include any performance-based or discretionary bonuses that may be awarded to a fighter by the promotion.
