Ramazonbek Temirov won’t be eligible to return to Ultimate Fighting Championship competition until next summer after testing positive for a banned substance earlier this year.
Combat Sports Anti-Doping revealed on Wednesday that the flyweight tested positive for Trimetazidine (TMZ) in out-of-competition samples collected on June 12 and July 4 in Phuket, Thailand. TMZ, which is used to treat heart failure and other cardiac conditions, is listed as a hormone and metabolic modulator on the UFC’s prohibited list. Because Temirov was not notified of the positive test on June 12 until after the July 4 sample was collected, they are combined into one anti-doping violation.
Temirov Claimed He Used Substance for Medical Condition
“Temirov submitted to a detailed interview with CSAD and was transparent about his TMZ use,” the CSAD statement read. “While Temirov failed to check on the status of this medication before he used it and failed to notify his prescribing doctor that he was a tested athlete, Temirov did present evidence that he was prescribed the drug for a reported medical condition and that he used the medication for a limited period of time, thus reducing any substantial performance-enhancing benefit.”
Temirov’s suspension will end on July 5, 2026. The 28-year-old Uzbekistan native is in the midst of an 11-bout professional winning streak, including triumphs over C.J. Vergara and Charles Johnson in UFC competition. He was scheduled to face Asu Almabayev on July 26, but that bout was canceled — likely due to the adverse findings by CSAD.
