UFC full fight video: Conor McGregor takes out Eddie Alvarez to become ‘champ-champ’

Watch Conor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez full fight video to see how McGregor became a dual-division champion at UFC 205 in New York on Nov. 12, 2016.

The UFC made history on that date by hosting its first-ever event in New York, taking advantage of the state lifting its ban on MMA earlier that year. A trio of title bouts were booked to celebrate the occasion, with McGregor and Alvarez at the top of the marquee.

McGregor was coming off of a blockbuster two-fight series with Nate Diaz at 170 pounds and he brought the 145-pound belt into his duel with Alvarez, the UFC’s lightweight champion. This was Alvarez’s first defense of his title after he won it with a blistering first-round TKO of Rafael dos Anjos.

However, it was McGregor’s striking that prevailed at UFC 205. He outworked Alvarez in the first and then badly rocked him in the second before forcing a stoppage via strikes at the 3:04 mark of round two. McGregor’s championship victory made him the first fighter to hold two UFC titles simultaneously (though both would eventually be vacated without a defense due to inactivity and McGregor’s pursuit of a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather).

Up next for McGregor is a rematch with Dustin Poirier. McGregor won their featherweight meeting at UFC 178 by TKO and now they fight again, this time at 155 pounds, in the main event of UFC 257 on Jan. 23 in Abu Dhabi.
