UFC Hamburg Lands Marcin Tybura vs. Stefan Struve and Two Other Bouts
The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Friday announced three additions to its July 22 fight card slated for Hamburg, Germany.
Topping Friday’s announcements is a pivotal heavyweight bout between Marcin Tybura and Stefan Struve, two fighters that were pushing to the top of the division, but who have both suffered recent setbacks.
Tybura (16-4) was charging up the rankings on the strength of a three-fight winning streak that included a victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski before being derailed.
After winning a unanimous decision in the Arlovski fight, Tybura then lost a decision to another former UFC champion in Fabricio Werdum in a headlining bout in Sydney, Australia, in November. That setback was followed by a TKO loss to Derrick Lewis in February.
Struve (28-10) was once one of the brightest stars in the UFC heavyweight division, even holding a TKO victory over current champion Stipe Miocic.
The Dutch fighter was diagnosed with a serious heart issue in 2013 and has struggled to regain his footing ever since. Struve had a stretch in 2015 and 2016 where he went 3-1 in the Octagon, seemingly getting back on track, but lost his only bout of 2017 to Alexander Volkov. He followed that disappointment with a loss to Arlovki in March of this year.
