UFC Ottawa Preliminary Card Results

UFC Ottawa preliminary card results are underway as the Las Vegas-based promotion holds this latest event on television for fight fans around the world to watch the show.

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Saturday, May 4, 2019) will come from in the form of UFC Ottawa. Headlining the card are Donald Cerrone and Al Iaquinta, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Sarah Moras vs. Macy Chiasson in a women’s bantamweight bout closes the preliminary card.

Aiemann Zahabi vs. Vince Morales is next in a bantamweight bout.

Nordine Taleb vs. Kyle Prepolec is next in a welterweight bout.

Kyle Nelson vs. Matt Sayles is next in a featherweight bout. In round 3, a sloppy takedown attempt and a scramble that leads to Sayles landing in mount. He frames an arm-triangle choke, squeezes, and Nelson taps.

Juan Adams vs. Arjan Bhullar is next in a heavyweight bout. In round 1, Bhullar circles and Adams advances. Adams looking to land big punches, but Bhullar slips and parries. Bhullar towards the fence. Bhullar holds his own against the massive man and throws a hard knee up the middle. In round 2, Bhullar goes for his first real takedown attempt of the fight and puts Adams on the canvas. Adams bridges, reverses and pops up to his feet. In round 3, Bhullar once again rushes Adams into the fence. Bhullar is still on top, chipping away with short strikes and probably carrying the fight. Bhullar got the win.

Opening the prelims is Mitch Gagnon vs. Cole Smith in a bantamweight bout. In round 1, Gagnon has Smith’s back, Smith loses the kimura grip. Smith gives up on the takedown, and with 90 seconds left in the round they’re back to exchanging on the feet. In round 2, Smith takes Gagnon’s back standing, hauls him to the canvas and locks in a body triangle. He has over two minutes to work. Gagnon is fighting off Smith’s hands, trying to avoid the rear-naked choke. Smith is out and Mitch spins into Smith’s guard. In round 3, Gagnon catches Smith with a massive left, chases him to the mat. Smith scrambles and Gagnon goes for an armbar. Smith escaped. Gagnon on top of him and has the choke sunk. It goes the distances and Smith got the win.

Welterweight bout: Nordine Taleb vs. Kyle Prepolec

Featherweight bout: Matt Sayles def. Kyle Nelson via submission (arm triangle)(Round 3, 3:16)

Heavyweight bout: Arjan Bhullar def. Juan Adams via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

Bantamweight bout: Cole Smith def. Mitch Gagnon via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
