‘I Miss Him’
“My father never really praised me personally, but he always praised me when he talked to his friends or relatives,” Zaynukov told Red Corner MMA. “He just never did that to me in person. Right when I transitioned to MMA, my father passed away. Of course, I miss him so much, even more so now that I’ve achieved so much and made it to the best league in the world — the UFC. I miss him… I miss the feeling of him being proud of me.”
Fans initially knew Zaynukov (8-0) as a training partner of Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov. His nickname “Chanco” was mistaken for “John Pork,” which added to his popularity. Zaynukov earned his UFC contract with a win over Lucas Caldas last year.
