UFC Vegas 108 Weigh-in Results: 2 Fighters Miss by Over 3 Pounds

After a rare month away, the Ultimate Fighting Championship made its return to Las Vegas official after the UFC Vegas 108 weigh-ins took place.

The main event of the UFC Apex event will see flyweights Tatsuro Taira and Hyun Sung Park battle. Both Asian fighters successfully hit their marks for the five-round fight. As for the rest of the card, a pair of preliminary participants were unable to successfully make weight. Tresean Gore (189.5) surpassed the middleweight limit by 3.5 pounds ahead of his pairing with Rodolfo Vieira (185) and has absorbed a 25% purse fine. Additionally, Rafael Estevam (130) blew past the 126-pound cap for his match against Felipe Bunes (125) and has received a 25% fine of his purse. Both matches will otherwise continue as scheduled.

Just 25 years of age, this serves as the third UFC main event for Taira (16-1). The Japanese fighter is looking to rebound from his first career defeat after losing a split decision to Brandon Royval. Prior to the setback, Taira had picked up TKO wins over Alex Perez and Carlos Hernandez to prove that he was a threat in the division. The Blackbelt Japan product officially weighed 126 pounds.

Meanwhile, this is the biggest fight in Park’s career, who enters his first UFC main event with a perfect 10-0 record. The South Korean fighter is coming off finishes of Hernandez and Shannon Ross that confirmed the 29-year-old as a prospect. Park officially stepped on the scale weighing 126 pounds.

UFC Vegas 108 will air in its entirety on ESPN and ESPN+ on Saturday. Prelims begin at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, while the main card kicks off at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
