Update: Conor McGregor Injury & Targeted Return Date

Spread the word!

Conor McGregor suffered an injury sparring, but it looks like it’s not that serious, and he could be returning to the Octagon sooner than expected.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, McGregor’s injury is not considered serious. However, his sources declined to comment on the severity and whether or not the Irish superstar would need surgery.

Ideally, the Irishman would like to return in late summer or early fall, according to the source. McGregor is the UFC’s largest pay-per-view (PPV) draw in history. He stands to lose the most from the recent ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) arrangement.

Perhaps that has been the major sticking point between the two sides as far as getting “Notorious” back in the cage. In his last Octagon outing, “Mystic Mac” was submitted in the fourth round by Khabib Nurmagomedov. He failed to recapture the 155-pound title he was forced to vacate in 2018. After the bout, however, all hell broke loose.

Both McGregor and Khabib’s camps engaged in a post-fight brawl. Suspensions and fines were handed out to all involved. McGregor has been eligible to return since early April. It will be interesting to see who he is matched up with upon his highly-anticipated return to Octagon action.
