Vadim Nemkov Inks Exclusive, Multi-Year Deal to Remain with PFL

Staying with the PFL was the best move for Vadim Nemkov at this point in time. | PFL MMA

Vadim Nemkov is staying with Professional Fighters League for the foreseeable future.

Sherdog.com on Wednesday confirmed with a promotion official that Nemkow has signed an exclusive, multi-year contract to remain with the PFL. Fighttime.ru was first to report the news.

Nemkov completed his previous contract at PFL Champions Series on Jan. 25, when he defeated Tim Johnson via first-round submission in a heavyweight bout. In an interview with Fighttime.ru, the 33-year-old Russian confirmed that he had some negotiations with the UFC before electing to re-sign with the PFL.

“I have signed a new contract with the PFL now. When the previous one ended, there were negotiations with the UFC, but there were misunderstandings, plus the conditions were twice as bad as in the PFL,” Nemkov said (via Google Translate). “If I were 20-25 years old, I would probably go to the UFC, but they made it clear to me that they are not particularly interested in fighters from Russia.”

Nemkov Won’t Rule Out Eventual UFC Move

While terms of the deal were not disclosed by the organization, Nemkov said that his new PFL deal is for two years. He won’t rule out a move to the UFC at that point in time. According to the report, Nemkov expects to make his PFL return in November.

“If I manage to win here against everyone and everything, then I think in two years, perhaps, there will be a different attitude,” he said.

Nemkov is unbeaten in his last 14 professional appearances, the majority of which have come under the Bellator MMA banner. He reigned as light heavyweight champion in the now-defunct organization, authoring four successful title defenses from 2021 to 2023. He moved to heavyweight in February 2024, when he tapped out Bruno Cappelozza in the second round at a PFL vs. Bellator event. The Fedorteam representative owns notable victories over the likes of Yoel Romero, Corey Anderson, Phil Davis (twice) and Ryan Bader, among others.
