Valter Walker credits his coach, Gor Azizyan, for everything he has today.
Walker took on Louie Sutherland at UFC 321 on Saturday at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. “The Foot Hunter” lived up to his moniker by scoring his fourth straight submission via heel hook, earning his second consecutive “Performance of the Night” bonus in the process.

While Walker is from Brazil, he didn’t develop his elite ground game in his home country. Walker credits his current gym, Gor MMA in Russia, for everything he has learned. Walker revealed that he wasn’t training seriously in Brazil and Thailand before going to the Russian camp. Walker considers himself a changed man now, all thanks to Coach Gor.
Walker: I’m a Real Russian Man
“In Russia I didn’t train [grappling] at all. I started seriously training at Gor MMA in Russia,” Walker said at his post-fight press conference.”In Brazil and Thailand the training wasn’t serious. It’s like you train with a girl or train with a grandma. In Russia, Gor MMA, that’s where I started training properly. My coach Gor shows me everything… Everything I have today, I have it because of coach Gor. My wife, my life in Russia. When I was training in Brazil, I think I was a completely different man. That’s why I say that now I’m a real Russian man.”
Walker suffered his lone professional loss in his UFC debut last year before racking up four straight first-round finishes via heel hook submissions.
