Video: Arman Tsarukyan Kicks Coach Out of Cage During Training Session

Whether in training or in a sanctioned fight, there’s a reason why it’s imperative to make sure the cage door is securely shut.

UFC lightweight Arman Tsarukyan offered an example of what can go wrong when he posted a video where he accidently kicks his coach out of the cage during a pad session. The former No. 1 contender lands a spinning back kick to the body, which sends the trainer flying out of the unsecured door. Tsarukyan then rushes out of the cage to check on the coach.

Based on the tone of Tsarukyan’s post on Instagram, it appears that no serious injuries were suffered as a result of the accident.

“Can somebody please keep the cage door closed,” Tsarukyan wrote.

Tsarukyan is currently awaiting his next UFC booking. The 28-year-old Russian last appeared at UFC 300, where he took a split decision over Charles Oliveira in a lightweight title eliminator. Tsarukyan lost his No. 1 contender’s status when he withdrew from a title bout against then champion Islam Makhachev at UFC 311 in January. Ilia Topuria has since claimed the vacant belt with a first-round knockout of Oliveira at UFC 317. Tsarukyan weighed in as the backup fighter for the main event, but there remains no word on his next booking. He has also offered to serve as the alternated for the UFC 318 headliner between Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway.
