Video: Khamzat Chimaev Takes Down Jon Jones

Khamzat Chimaev and Jon Jones recently linked up in Russia.

Chimaev recently shared a photo with Jones on social media. An unknown source also recorded Chimaev playfully grappling with Jones. Chimaev was surprisingly able to take down the former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion. Jones, considered among the best wrestlers in UFC history, got back to his feet and ran away jokingly.

Mutual Admiration Society

Chimaev (15-0) and Jones (28-1) have expressed mutual respect in the past as well. “Borz” considers Jones the scariest fight in the history of the sport. Jones shared his gratitude towards Chimaev for the compliment.

Chimaev dominantly dethroned Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319 to win the middleweight title this past August. The undefeated champion is now eyeing a second title against Alex Pereira at light heavyweight.

Meanwhile, Jones’ legendary career is slightly marred by a year of stalling the heavyweight division while refusing to fight interim champion Tom Aspinall. Aspinall was promoted to undisputed champ following Jones’ retirement this past June. However, Jones’s brief retirement ended when President Donald Trump announced plans for a UFC event at the White House. While “Bones” is back in the drug testing pool and eyeing a return at the White House next year, Dana White doesn’t sound very enthusiastic about the idea.
