Slamming your way out of a submission can be a risky proposition, but it worked out beautifully for Mike Kimbel on Friday at Bellator 194.
Making his professional debut, the 20-year-old Kimbel floored opponent Geoffrey Then with a 1-2 combination early in Round 1 and immediately followed his bantamweight adversary to the mat. Then tried to counter with an armbar from the bottom, but Kimbel picked him up and dropped him right on his head before finishing with ground and pound.
