Watch boxer Nick Ball kick opponent after round ends

Nick Ball might want to think about getting into MMA.

On Saturday night, Ball defended his WBA featherweight title against TJ Doheny at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, and things nearly went haywire early. After a spirited first round, the two boxers ended the round tied up in the corner. After the bell, Doheny held onto a headlock for a few extra seconds and Ball took such offense that once he was free, he fired a short kick into the legs of Doheny, who promptly fell down.

Check out the bizarre scene below.

Ultimately the referee chose not to disqualify Ball or even deduct a point and the bout resumed as planned. Ball proceeded to take over the action for most of the rest of the bout, beating Doheny down for the next nine rounds en route to a stoppage before the 11th round.

Ball moved to 22-0-1 in his career with the win.
