Another middleweight bout with serious title implications has been added to the UFC 230 lineup.
One day after multiple outlets reported that a Chris Weidman–Luke Rockhold rematch was set for UFC 230, the Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed that top 185-pound contenders Yoel Romero and Paulo Henrique Costa will also square off on the Nov. 3 card at Madison Square Garden in New York. A headliner for the card has not been announced, but a third key middleweight matchup — Ronaldo Souza vs. David Branch — was also recently confirmed.

Romero, who has missed weight for his last two bouts, had been contemplating a move to 205 pounds at the urging of UFC President Dana White, but it looks as though the Cuban middleweight will stay put in the middleweight division for now. “The Soldier of God” last appeared at UFC 225, where he lost a split decision to reigning champ Robert Whittaker in a memorable five-round battle on June 9. Romero was ineligible for the belt after tipping the scales at 185.2 pounds one day prior. The 41-year-old Romero owns notable wins over the likes of Rockhold, Weidman, Ronaldo Souza, Lyoto Machida, Tim Kennedy and Derek Brunson, to name a few.
Costa, meanwhile, is unbeaten in 12 professional outings and has finished all of his victims inside of two rounds. “Borrachinha” is 4-0 in the Octagon and has scored back-to-back TKO stoppages of Uriah Hall and Johny Hendricks in his last two UFC appearances.
